Simple Syrup

Bring one cup of water to a boil and stir in one cup of sugar until the sugar completely dissolves. What could be easier?

Upgrade: Mix in a bit of flavoring or coloring, especially when using for recipes such as the bloody martini. I like almond, mint, vanilla and licorice extracts. I also like grenadine or maraschino juice.
